Franklin, November 5, 2021: 16th Judicial District Attorney Bo Duhé announces that:
A grand jury in the 16th Judicial District Court has indicted a Derwin Hamilton, 49, with two counts of 1st Degree Murder in the case of his girlfriend and young nephew being set on fire, resulting in the child’s immediate death. The woman’s death came several days after she was hospitalized.
Hamilton was arrested in July accused of intentionally setting his live-in girlfriend and his 5-year-old nephew on fire.
The woman reported to first responders that during an argument, Hamilton poured a liquid on her and the child and then set them on fire.
